Digital Literacy Coach
This year I will continue in with my addition responsibility as a Digital Literacy Coach. In this position I will be out of my classroom 2 half days a month. I will have a substitute in my room while I am out helping other teachers in the district. There will be other occasional days that I will be out of my classroom to attend professional development meetings.
Kingsley-Pierson CSD wrote and was approved for the Teacher Leadership and Compensation grant in the fall of 2015. This grant allows teacher leaders within the district to take on additional responsibilities. These responsibilities include assisting fellow teachers in their classrooms with instructional strategies, classroom management, technology integration, data analysis, and mentoring new teachers all with student achievement driving our decisions. KP has four positions that are attached to this grant: Curriculum Director, Instructional Coach, Digital Literacy Coach, and Model Teacher.
My focus in this position will be to help the 7-12th grade teachers integrate technology into their lessons and classroom. My goal is to use technology in authentic ways to take our lessons to the next level. Higher order thinking as well as the 21st Century Skills will be high on my list of priorities as we look at adding technology into our lessons. Substituting technology just for the sake of using technology in the classroom is not the purpose of this initiative.
